ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR

David is a long-time Memphian who loves all that this great city has to offer—savory food, down home blues, and colorful art around every corner.  From sketching and drawing in his bedroom in his early youth, his art has evolved into something that brings joy and happiness to many through his use of color and slightly skewing the usual, everyday scenery.  His artwork can be found throughout the city, including the Peabody Hotel, FedEx Forum, Rendezvous Restaurant, and exterior murals in Overton Square.  Along with his passion to paint, he loves spending time with his wife Mandy and son Paxton Buffett – that is right, we are a family of Parrottheads.  The images he created for this book are meant to capture a colorful piece of Memphis for all to enjoy.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Grace is a Memphian, wife, mother, lawyer, dog lover, terrible cook, and beach enthusiast. She graduated from Millsaps College in 2006 where she met her husband Ryan, a New Orleans native. Three years of law school, two dogs, four moves, five years of practicing law and two babies later, she wrote and published Goodnight Memphis.  A passion for the soulful city and its smallest residents inspired her to create a children’s book just for them.  She lives in East Memphis with her husband, two precious boys, Wade and Whit and two spirited Boxers, Mae and Jack.
